- When I joined Longwood Gardens as Director in July 2006, I was incredibly honored and eager to take the helm of one of the “Great Gardens of America.” With more than 1,000 acres, an expansive Conservatory, hundreds of performances and educational programs each year, ground-breaking plant research and plant exploration journeys that circle the globe, I knew I would be challenged and energized by everything that is happening at the Gardens. My job is to ensure Longwood’s leadership as a 21st century Garden—respecting our heritage while improving our infrastructure, embracing new technologies, and planning for the future. All while surrounded by the incomparable beauty of the Gardens and the unmatched talent of its staff and volunteers. I look forward to sharing a bit of the behind-the-scenes magic with our readers right here on our blog. Enjoy!
