About: Colvin R.
- Colvin's interest in the history of Longwood Gardens began in 1973 as a Longwood Graduate Fellow researching the story of the Gardens' fountains. From 1977 until 2004 he was Longwood's Public Relations Manager, and from 2004 to 2008 was Historian/Information Manager; in 2008 he was named the first P.S. du Pont Fellow. In 1980 Colvin devised a way to coordinate music with the fountains and has been responsible for those programs ever since. He also oversees the fireworks displays, the 10,010-pipe organ now under renovation, and the 62-bell carillon in the Chimes Tower. He is the author of 3 books on Longwood, including the Centennial publication, "Longwood Gardens / 100 Years of Garden Splendor".
