- I grew up in Maryland by the Susquehanna River. We had 2 acres with lots of woods behind us that I loved to play in as a kid. This is where my love for trees really started in the woods just climbing every tree I could with my brothers. We had a lot of different ones for different occasions, our favorite one was an American beech that we called Shady tree. My dad saw that I loved to be outside and work with my hands. He took me to visit a trade school during my senior year of high school, The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. I attended there after graduating high school enrolled in the horticulture program. This is when I learned about professional arboriculture. For a summer internship while at Williamson I worked for a small local tree care company which really wet my appetite for a career in arboriculture. After graduating Williamson I went on to intern at the Bartlett Tree Experts for 9 months. I experienced much of how a production crew works and learned quite a bit. After interning at Bartlett Tree I wanted to try for a bachelor’s degree in business. After one semester I knew that business was not for me. That next year I was encouraged by a friend to apply to Longwood for an arboriculture internship. This is where my career as an arborist took off and hasn’t stopped. Thanks to Longwood, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience as an arborist.
